Well I went to pick it up, started fine..alittle rough idle but less than a mile down the road it started running like someone pulled a plug wire off.
No power, real rough and falls on it's face in 3rd gear.
I nursed it back to the service station and we determined it has poor spark. So we changed all the plug wires still the same, so tommorow we'll try the points, and maybe the coil and the wire from the distributor to the coil (it looks crappy).
The weird thing is the mechanic had it out driving fine earlier in the day.
    Maybe tommorow.
Is there an upgrade kit avail. to eliminate the points?

Look for a Pertronix, eliminates the points and a lot of grief.

If it will run at idle, put a timing light on it and verify it's timed correctly. I had a distrib move while driving and resulted in all of what you described. It may save you some time and money right off the bat.

Maybe it's crappy gas. Crap in the gas? Water in the gas? How long was it sitting?
