i know that this topic has been beaten to death in most aspects.
i'm trying to sell a full set of 10 leaf pack front and rear springs that were supposed to go on a 1971 cj5. i lined them up and everything fit to be sure, but eventually didn't go with the new springs, hence the sale.

    my measurement
(center to center on the leaf springs)
    Front: 38.4"
    Rear: 44.25"

    buyers FSM (for a 1958 CJ5)
    Front: 39.6"
    Rear: 46"

is this difference in measurements due to the springs are off of a jeep and unloaded?

as always, any help would be appreciated.

    I would say yes
the degree of arc (or lack of) in the spring packs could give you the different measurements
flat springs may be longer than sharply arced springs
that's why one end of the spring has the movable shackle
