On my 68 cj5 I have a stock manifold and an orig 2gc carb that was shot. Instead of rebuilding that one, I bought a rebuilt one at my one of our common parts houses. Problem is the new 2g doesnt fit the manifold just right, one of the studs is about 1/4 " off towards the outside so I just notched out the carb to make it fit. That was acouple of years ago and I bought another reman carb but same thing. I just left one of the studs off so it mounts with three studs. Has anyone run into this problem? Was there A different 2GC that was stock?

yes I have, problem is without the 4th stud you WILL get a vacuum leak when you least expect it. the other problem is that your intake might not be a jeep version or the carbs you get are not jeep 2g's. If you have the origional one, call jeep with the model numbers and find out. this is what happened to me, my carbs were for a buick rivie

Yah, mine is from a Riv too. I know 2G carbs are available, but does anyone know if there is a Jeep 2G carb to be found?

Sparky. I talked to these people before and they said there wasnt any distinction between the jeep 2G carbs or other 2G. That a 2G was a2G.

Guess I don't understand what you're saying. There's a distinction as you found out. There's plenty of 2Gs out there. Plenty of sizes and variations depending on the application.

What was a 2GC? Automatic choke as I recall wasn't it?

The one I linked to is for a 225.

There are even 2 sizes of 2g's as far as the cfm of the carb.
My boat 2g (Ford 302) is different from my Jeep one, larger and uses some different parts.

I asked the parts place (Napa) for a 2G for a 68 cj5 and they just said it was a 2g, like 2g's are the same for all years. I'm just trying to find out here if there was someone that knows of a specific model number specificly for the jeep.

Here are the part numbers from NAPA:
2g with manual choke NRC 2416
2g with auto choke NRC 225
Oh and I checked a couple of other applications that I know use a 2g and they used different part numbers.

Ditto what Mcruff said...just did it myself. But, the link Sparky posted will save you $100 for probably the same thing.

I'd guess more than just two sizes. I have one that's smaller than the one on my 225 that was on the 198.

Yup, I've got one off of a '68 396 Chevy; I believe it is bigger than the ones I have off of SBC's...
