I want to set my CJ6 with saginaw p/s and I want to know the best way to do it. The frame is bare right now. My 2 CJ-5 's have sagi steering but are set up different. My '70 has manual , box mounted lower to clear crossmenber, and engine mount notched to clear steering shaft. My '68 has p/s, is mounted a little higher, uses a drop pitman arm, has a hole in the radiator cross member for shaft, and no notch in engine mount. Both setups use the stock column.
I searched for threads about p/s conversions and also looked at McRuff's pics of his conversion. Is one setup better (stronger)? Is there anything else I should be aware of? I would like to get the mounting plate welded to my frame so I can send it to the powder coater.

Personal preference and experience... I put all of mine high on the frame rail with a drop arm. I also replace the whole cross member with 2 2X2 square stock with a pass through.

To many issues with having it mounted lower (just my luck / story). Picks of my Red setup are in the archive.
