I don't get whats wrong with my 71. It has HEI and a new carb. It was running with the distributor exactly the way it is now, the only different thing is the old carb was leaking like a sive so I changed it. the new carb was working on my bro's jeep but it don't even TRY to start on my motor!
I don't know what happened, it has GREAT spark and timing is correct but I get nothing!

Have you pulled the distributor and dropped it back in since it quit running?

So it quit running after you changed carbs? Are you getting fuel into your new carb yet? You should be able to pull the throttle back with the breather off and see if any fuel is being sprayed. If it's not, try some starter fluid or a little gas down the carb to see if it will run and get the gas pumped back into the carb.

I have gas in the carb and no, I have not pulled the distributor, just the carb swap. but I think the carb is flooding for some reason. I know crap about carbs though.

Did you change any of the carb adjustments or just bolted it on?
    New base plate gasket?

Ok try this, place a srew driver in the throat of the carb to hold the bottom butterfly open. Let it air out for a few mins. Then choke it down and try to start it with out giving any gas.

Might pull the spark plugs and give them a fast looksee. May be fuel fouled.
