I have the stock throttle linkage setup on the F-134 and would like to convert it to a cable setup to get rid of the play in the linkages. Has anyone done this?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Welcome from Kansas!

I'm not gonna be much help with the question, my F-head retained the stock linkage and my V6 came with a cable. But I thought I'd at least say hello.

    Welcome from Boston!

The later Jeeps use a plastic sheathed accelerator cable of various lengths. These are designed to snap into a square hole at the firewall. There are lots of possibilities using a cable and pedal from another car - look around your local pick-your-part for some inspiration.

The other possibility is a hot-rod or universal cable, available from Jegs or Summit. The one I saw recently had lots of differnt ends that you could attach, and you could cut it to length.

Thanks for the quick replies, I'm impressed for my first post!

I also have a '71 CJ5 w/225 V6 and have been comparing the two setups. I was mainly curious if anyone else had done it, and what parts they used. I have access to a couple '76-'86 CJ gas pedals to replace the standard pedal, and I guess I'll just use trial and error to find a correct cable length, that shouldn't be too hard since I have a couple of those laying around too.

I have a pic, but don't know how to post pics yet, I'll search for a tutorial here on how to do it, and get one up here. The tub is in poor shape, but the frame and front clip are in pretty good shape. So, I'll most likely have to find another tub and a windshield frame. One of those windshield frames with the flip-out windshield would be neat.

    Thanks guys,

    Brian from KC, KS.
