I am not one for electrical work, so I need some opinions/help from you all...

When I depress my brakes, the brake lights will wink. What I mean is that one rear tail light will get bright and the other will go out completely. It is very obvious at night when the all lights are on and only one of the bright brake lights illuminate with the brake depressed.

When the brakes are not depressed all lights are operational as they should be. I'm not sure if its a bad ground or bad light assembly or anything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad ground to me too or something wired backwards, check your wiring.

You can check the ground by making a jumper. A stretch of wire with alligator clips at each end. clamp one end to the place where the bulb socket grounds, the other end to a clean spot on the frame, assuring good metal contact on each clip... then try the brake lights again.

I had that problem after reassembly. Turned out I had some dirty connections and the wires on the left rear taillight were reversed. I thought the problem was in my dimlight, but it was actually the bright light that was wrong  .

My guess is a ground as well. Can't hurt to check the wiring also and see if things are correct ;)
