Ballast resistor

    I have a 74 CJ5 with a 258. It has no Ballast resistor and the wiring diagram in the fsm dosn't call for one. However, my 57 m38a1 with a 225 has a ballast resistor and so does my friends 88 cherokee with a 258. Since '74 is right in the middle, I don't see why it wouldn't have one. P.S. I have a ton of ballast resistors I got from cherokee's in the junkyard for an experiment so it would be cake to throw one in, althogh I'd rather not have it if I don't need it.

    Id say if your not burning up your points or cap and rotor or anything else you shouldnt need it
