I went to the local Dillons (a Kroger food chain---think King Soopers out your way), and Arm and Hammer washing soda was on the laundry isle. First place I went and they had it. If you can't find any, I can buy and send you a box.

I know I could have made a much cleaner setup....but I didn't plan on using it frequently and that mess only required a few bucks of rebar. The jumper cables are now back in their respective vehicles ;) , and the bucket is now holding various JEEP parts.

    MOP,

Thanks. I went to a small local grocery store and found some. I built a setup and tested it for about 3 hours on an old railroad spike. The results look promising. I then put in a small piece of floor panel with a fine thread bolt in it to check the effect of the process on bolt threads. I'll leave it running overnight and check it in the morning.

Where are you located at? Looks like Florida. wher at if here, maybe some body could give a hand. The T90 is very simple. Chances are the bearings for the main shaft just seized in palce. The new JP magazine has a writeup on rebuilding the little thing.

    Dan,

Went back a couple of pages and didn't see my thread so I started another.
I live in Palm Beach county about 20 minutes south of West Palm. There isn't much too this thing, I need to find a good exploded view of a T90 and I may try to tackle it.

    Thanks

    Marty

Marty, in the new 4 wheel and off road is a arcticle on rebuilding the T90. i just read it tongiht. It almost seems harder to pull the tranny from the vehicle, than it does to rebuild the tranny. But look at the article and do a search for the T90 rebuild writeup, both are great and will give an overview of it before you decide to go in it.

And welcome from the other side of the state :)

    Dan,
Thanks for the help. I will get out and pick one up tomorrow. I still think it is some sort of a shifter problem. I can move the gears around and get all different one with the cover off but the second I put the cover back on all hell breaks loose. At leats if I pick up the mag I will have a better understanding of the interior.

    DAn,

I even replaced the top cover assembly (shifter forks and all). I'm wondering if it is somthing with the way I'm installing it. Any special tricks you know of?

Thanks for all the help and if you get over to the east side I owe you a cold one :)

i believe the top cna only be put on one way. Only other thing is to make sure the forks fit in the grooves. You may have to move the slide rings on the mainshaft over to get them to index the tranny. if you can snap some pics, that is a good way to make sure things are kosher.

Glad to hear you got it together. Does the ends of the shifter tower where the rails slie back and forth have end caps on them? If they are open you will get big time oil leaks. So just vefore you start to drive it i want to make sure you look there or you will hate yourself for the leaks that will happen
