I am buying a 73 cj5 dashboard with no radio cut in the dash. The guy that I bought it from said it is rare to have no hole cut for a radio,So I do not want to cut a hole into the dashbord. Any ideas on how to mount the radio with out putting into the dashboard. Also will a 74 cj5 windshield fit on to a 73 cj

To hang my radio, I removed the ash-tray, and I used the hole and another one (I don't remember wich one) to screw the radio under the dash. better than saw into an existing dash, IMHO

You should be able to build a radio plate that hangs off the bottom of the dash. Maybe check a boating supply store. They often have neat boxes for mounting radios in boats so you don't have to cut holes, and so it'll be weatherproof.
I'm just a "newbie" but I've picked up some on the windshields. I think the change came in 76. and it was mainly a change in the angle that it sits at . They will all bolt to one another, but you need to know the year of the windshield so you can get the right softtop and doors. But I think a 73 and 74 were the same. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

X2, about the only problem you might run into would be the doors fitting properly, not really sure if it will be a problem though just going from 74 to a 73. I have a 73 with a 78 windshield, and we have a soft top on it for a 78, but the doors wont work. It's not really a problem for us, cause we rarely even put the top on it.

Tuffy makes really nice boxs that are made to go between the seats. Heavy duty with cushioned top and cup holders. I bolted one between my seats and installed my cd player in there. It's nice cause it locks and I almost never run with the top on on town.
