When you turn the key on the 74, nothing, but if you leave it on for a good while, the headlight comes on. Go ahead and turn it all the way over to start and it clicks and everything powers off. No lights or nothing with the key on. What could the problem be here?

Kinda what it sounds like to me. If I am remembering right, when I had a bad wire going from the solenoid to the starter, it would kill power to everything when I tried to start it. You might check that out too.
