Hi. I just scored these today off a 74 . I havn't opened them up yet but the tag on the diffs indicate 3.73's . Should I swap these into the Jeep I'm building (replacing the offset dana 44 and dana 25/27) or just swap the brakes ? Will a dana 20 case bolt up to my t 90. Sorry for the bad pic it's very humid here and the lens on the camera kept fogging up.

    Thanks AJ

AJ the dana 20 will bolt up, but as for the bullgear matching up someone else will have to help with that (not sure on the spline count of the output shafts). It might be much easier to just rob the 11" brakes off those axles and swap them onto your 67.

as long as you have a 6 spline bullgear tha matches to the dana 20 then you should be good to go.

3.73's kinda suck in an ECJ. Swap the brakes.

I have a 1971 cj5 and one of the previous owners did a similar swap with the rear axle and the transfer case. They installed a center differential and a dana/spicer model 20 transfer case. The front axle is the original model 27.

This combination seam to work well, but the drive shaft angle is steep and actuall angles up and toward the drivers side.

I'm giving some thought to swapping the front axle with a d30. My current gearing is 3.73.

    Kinda? R)

You loose/loose with that proposition. 3.73 and a higher low range in the transfer case. 3.73 w/ the D18 is tolerable for most of what I do but still to fast for alot that I'd like to do.

Sparky, that's why you need the T18

It makes the D18/3.73s tolerable offroad :D

It's on the list, that or a SM420.

I also know someone now who has an "extra" t18. ;)
