ball joint adjusters

I put the moog high end ball joints in my 30. I went from a drum brake housing with disk brake everything else. The upper adjusters seemed to come out a lot further than I would have expected when torqued to spec. Anyone else experiance this? I have had them apart and retourqued multiple times to try and find an error in my procedure but they come out the same each time. They stick out about 1/4 to 3/8 inch out towards the ball joint. I will see if I have a picture of them.

 

geez, the spider webs will give you an idea of how long it has been since I drove the darn thing...

 

If you're referring to the split sleeve protruding out the bottom of the housing yoke, I have the same problem. I have about 2 threads protruding out the bottom on my drivers side. I let it go and have been driving it that way for a couple years now. No problems. I used aftermarket ball joints from 4WD Hardware. Next timew I'll use Spicer.
