I posted this in the wrong forum first:

I'm gonna have to do some major body work on Smokey. What kind of metal do yall use to replace the rusted spots?

Also, what's the best way to try and fab rounded edges, like the tub behind the hood and under the windshield? That needs help. Bad.

I just don't forsee in the near future paying for a replacement tub.

You mostly have to improvise on bodywork unless you have the right stuff to do it. Just use sheetmetal around 18g like someone else mentioned. As far as making rounded pieces, either bend the sheetmetal around something that has the same radius, or use a sandbag and body hammer to pound it to the right shape you need.

I guess I have to learn sometime. I was thinking of trying to find a cj5 body and cut what I need out of it. I can weld, so I wouldn't mind attempting that. As far as the front of the tub goes, is it the same basically as a cj7? My main points there are from the door pins up and across under the windshield, driver's rocker panel, and floorboards.

Certain pieces of it should be about the same. If it looks the same, you should be able to make it work.
