I'm wondering if the doors on my 71 are designed to be removed. I got out there yesterday and after an hour of pounding :smash:, cussing , chiseling :smash:, kicking :toetap:, and screaming  I hadn't gotten a single door pin to move. There is a bit of rust around them, but I see 0 movement in them. Are they designed to come out? I'm probably going to end up cutting the head off and drilling them out to replace them either way, but I'm thinking there has got to be an easier way.

Those hignes are very very very very tough.. as you found out. for some reason the jeep engineers made them out of diamond or something like that. People have reported to have taken like 3 hours with a drill press just to drill out them pins. Did i mention that it is difficult ;) Best thing is to try adn bet the bolts off the body and door, heat is the best first bet, and after that you will probably bugger up the phillips hole on the screws, so expect to weld on a nut to the old bolts and turn it off that way. Removing the doors is just one of the worst things to have to do to a commando/jeepster. Dont give up, they will eventually come off.

Dan is right, remove them from the body. there is a guy over on the Jeepster board who sells pre-drilled hings with pins. You send him your old ones and he send you some new ones with pins.
