which one is better? and will my dana 27 hubs work on my dana30 open knuckle. also I found out how the guy I bought my 3b from blew the transfercase. he swapped gears on the rear to 4.88's and left the 3.42's in the front. when he locked it up due to this problem, he punched it and popped the clutch! kerplow bye bye transfercase!

but which setup is better? I don't "beat" my jeep at all. I have the same stock stuff in one 71 that it was built with, even the stock size and style rims and tires! my 71 that came to the family brand new that is. I'm real careful and picky about changing anything on it since they came pretty much perfect from the factory. Would the jeep benieft from the 27 to 30 open knuckle setup since it might get into lowrange once every 20 years?

Short answer is you would not gain anything.

    What Glenn said.
If you're not going to use it then you don't really gain anything unless your existing Dana 27 is bad.

I swapped to the Dana 30 so I could have an ARB Locker.

Other advantages of the Dana 30: wider, open knuckles, newer, tighter turning radius, disc brakes, and as mentioned you have a wider selection of lockers. Some say it's a bit stronger.

I do use the 4wheel in it but always in high range. It's my daily driver now that I sold my cherokee v-8 limited and it does great getting me to work. It however sucks on the freeway since I push 4200 rpm at 63 mph! It won't go faster since I adjusted the throttle to limit it down tothat in high gear. anymore and it can't be good for that engine.

What driving do you do to use it in high range? Soft sandy trails or something?

"little man" hasn't seen a trail in 13 years when I got him. just getting out the drive in winter at my house you need 4H and with the t-98's 1st gear ratio I don't need low. also anyone know how to work and assemble the PTO winch on this thing. I don't know where to mount it to kiaser specs?
