I posted quite a few months ago about having machine work done to my engine, and since that post my block has done nothing but sit well-oiled under a sheet :(

Well, after a long period of no $, I'm proud to say that I plan to reassemble my engine within the next couple of weeks! I just got my Totally Stainless bolt kit today and it's got me pretty excited! Also, I originally only had my crank polished as the measurement was just within spec, but after putting more thought into it I've decided to have it ground 0.010" under since it was so close to the small extreme of the spec.

This project is taking far longer than I ever thought it would (just over two years so far), but reading about everyone else's projects sure helps keep me motivated - I can't wait to get back on the road (and trail) again, however many years away that may be! :toetap:

Probably should store that crank standing on it's end, I heard that's the proper way to store them just secure it so it can't fall over.

Are you tricking out your motor or stock rebuild?

Stock, unless all of the machine work I've had done (boring cylinders, grinding crank, etc..) classifies as "tricking it out." I did buy a chrome valve cover on eBay because it was the right price - under $30.00 shipped. I was finding black steel valve covers on some aftermarket sites for about $50.00 + shipping. I'll tell you what though, with all of the work I've had done and the new parts purchased, I'm in about $1500.00 on the engine alone. Guess I could have bought a rebuilt block for far less, but I am happy that I'll still have most of the original stuff and i'll know my block inside and out.

Thanks for the advice; hope I haven't done any damage as of yet as it was stored on its side for the last few months
