I have a '65 CJ5A with the 134F, and the original Carter YF has seen better days. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who knows what vehicles carbs would interchange. I would normally run to the parts stores or to the salvage yards, but they are slim pickins around here. My parts stores don't even list a replacement for my jeep.
    Thanks,
    Robert.

I have read up on the solex. I like it, but I was looking more to locality. sparky, I have read that page that you had displayed, wonderful information, I have used it numerous times relating to my Tuxedo Park. If I cannot find a carb locally, I will be hitting one of ya's up for a source for one of the Solex carbs.

If you meant interchangeability as far as other vehicles that used the Carter YF, you're likely to find quite a list. IIRC, the rebuild kit covers about 30 years with many differences. The first time I rebuilt the YF on my '65, I took it in to check with a mechanic buddy to confirm I did it right, because there were so many parts left in the box.

My favorite fix however was the Solex. It's a bolt-in replacement that just worked. I got mine from Krage -

$105 plus shipping. Best part added in quite a while.

FWIW others will work I think the last one I used was off a Dodge pickup. Had to fabricate linkage and a rebuild kit I had spent almost as much as I would have with a Solex. My A1 has a Solex it was new easy to get tuned came with the pieces that were needed to modify the linkage. It was easy, I like easy.

Cost is right, seems low for a carb, but well worth the price.
I figured that I would have to modify linkage either way, Might as well go with the Solex. After the junkyard price, the rebuild kit, modifying the linkage, and the time involved, I may just Xnay the retrofit idea. I guess I am just growing impatient on wanting the jeep on the road quick.:)

I have also been following up with the thread "F-head, carb dumping fuel"
I have just finished ordering a carb from the "jeepdoc" Thanx to everyone for their help.
