    Hi all

I have one of the rear leaf spring that broke. Quick question, should I change both or just one ???

I'm kinda short on $$ and I have one leaf from a 1976 CJ-7 that will probably fit, I was thinking of using this. Anything special, other than get some new u-bolts ???

    Thanks

    Bob

If it's the same length and thickness, use it. You'll need a new spring center bolt too.

My dad had the idea of changing only the broken leaf. The complete assembly I have is not exactly the same construction as the one that is mounted on my jeep, but if I change only a single leaf, will this work ???

Also, in the event I need to change all the leaf, will YJ leaf bolt on at the back ?? Since they are the same lenght, i assume that yes, but if someone could enlight me on this, I would appreciate. i will read the tech section on that subject.

Changing the one leaf will work ok, as long as the leaf fits into the pack. The spring rates side-to-side will end up a little different, and you might have some lean, but it will be fine for a patch-up job. How is the new leaf different?

There's no problem swapping springs between vehicles, but some possible differences are in the width, diameter of the eyes, and the location of the center pin. If the eyes are too large, they may interfere with the hangers or the shackle. The center pin has to be in the same place.
