When changing from a C shackle to a conventional one:

    1. Does the mount part of the C shackle just drive out of the frame?
    2. Is there a bushing that replaces it?
    3. Does that bushing come with the new shackle or do you have to make it?

When I swapped to my Rancho springs, all I had to do was remove the C shackle by unscrewing the outer part. (Earlier versions may be left handed thread.) Once that was out, I simply installed the Rancho-supplied urethane bushings. Nothing that difficult. I imagine that you could buy just the urethane bushings if you're making your own shackles.

X3. The poly bushings just pop in with a little grease if you take the center tube out first. Once the bushing is inside the spring hangar, you can press the tube back in with a coupla taps of a mallet.

An interesting twist, on the M38A1 I have the front outer parts of the C shackle are WELDED to the frame... I will have to release them with the blue wrench. I cant imagine that being standard, but there are several subtilties to the M38 A1.

    Mine are as well. :(

I'm gonna have to pay someone to take mine out. Right now I have new Rancho springs with old "C" shackles.
