i know the headline for this section of the forums doesnt cover the cj7's but everyone was so helpful with my last post, i figured it wouldnt hurt (or offend anyone too much :) ). i am getting an 83 cj7 6cyl, 4spd, fiberglass, new 31" tires, hard top for 2350. am i getting a good deal? i used to have a wrangler and jacked that up with some 33's and 3 susp lift but really like the older bodies better. apparently the guy i am getting it from is a certified mechanic so i kinda trust that he has taken care of it pretty well. any comments help! thanks.

Price rarely is the same from one part of the country to another.
If it runs and the frame is not swiss cheese it sounds like a good deal.

    :iagree:

Around here that would be a great price for a running 7 in decent shape. The main question I would have is whether it is complete and done right or is it an unfinished project that he gave up on. Trying to finish someone else's project and figure out what they have and have not done can some times be more of a headache than what it is worth.

i am in southern PA, right above the maryland line. as far as i know it is not an unfinished project, i mean, he is getting it inspected so it is at least road worthy.

Check the rear frame rails for rust real well. ;)
We looked at one from up that way the frame just crumbled in my hand when I grabbed it.

Especially if he has had to replace the tup. Sounds like a great deal, this is just something you want might want to check before you get it.

A new fiberglass tub and fenders and hood is going to run you almost 2 grand right there. Now if it runs and it road worthy, I would have to say it's a good deal. But, hard to say without actually seeing pics and places where rust is an issue. Even if the frame is shot, that's another couple grand. Four grand in isn't bad for a new glass body and potentially new/ different frame.

Sounds like a good deal, especially for a glass-tubbed in this area...
I'm in York - New Salem, can't be far from you. We have a couple guys here from D-town too...

I'd expect a 7 with a glass tub, good fgrame and everything operational to go for ~$4000
