You only have 1/2 the brackets needed. The first bracket bolts into the three holes in the head. What you are showing in the pic bolts into the first bracket. A V6 or V8 from the late 70- early 80s bracket will work.

The bracket should look similar to this:

The top half of my bracket was cut off, it held the alternator and in some applications it holds the smog pump. Notice it is 2 pieces a front bracket and rear bracket.

salvage yard you might look for a mid 70's to 80's (early) gm with a 231 v6 and power steering. perhaps a skylark, or such.

I suggest you find one from a rear wheel drive regal with a 3.8 motor from say the late 70's thru about 1985. Just make sure the bracket is complete, in other words make sure it has the rear bracket which is the adjustable part for the belt tension!!

One from a Buick Skyhawk and similar small GM (not sure about Monza) will also work.

Buick Skyhawk and Chevy Monza came with the Buick 231 V-6 but didn't have power steering.

You can also look for Chevy Monte Carlo. Some came with the 231 and 229 V-6. Just look for the one with the distributor in the front of the motor.

I got mine off of e-bay with a pump for $25.00. Search "Buick 350"

I have a bracket, pump and hoses in my barn which I personally took off a Pontiac Sunbird, unless someone added it, looked factory to me though.

I recently purchased a 1967 Kaiser Willys CJ5 with the original V-6. I was thinking about adding power steering. I have seen where people are suggesting using the power steering from the GM products with the same engine. If I am able to find one at a salvage yard, is there much alteration need to install this unit?

Brackets from all the Buick V6s that are listed above will work, as will brackets from a 300, 340 or 350 Buick. The 225 is 3/4 of a Buick 300. But the 300/340/350 is as old as the 225, so you are probably better off looking for one of the more recent RWD V6 Buick cars.

You understand that the 231 is essentially the same engine as the 225 used in Jeeps? The cars listed above use the same Buick engine as Jeeps did. This is not some random collection of GM cars.

Better to start your own thread than to resurrect an old thread. First post! Welcome from Boston.
