I don't know what Jeep you are rewiring, Ashipman, but if it is an Intermediate with a 304, I wouldn't buy a harness. I ended up cutting most of the wires out of the one I paid for so really, the money went to waste.

here is what I would do...

Buy a universal automotive fuse panel
2 100 yard rolls of 10 or 12 gauge wire
1 100 yard roll of 14 gauge wire
lots and lots of plastic wiring loom, different sizes
    plenty of assorted crimp connectors
1 HEI style distributor (I ended up with the DUI model)
1 self-exciting internally regulated 63 amp alternator from NAPA

Rip it all out and replace it. I'm not the brightest guy in the world... all of my wiring troubles went away when I stopped trying to make the new harness work with what was there and instead just simplified everything.

You have 1 wire running from the ignition to the distributor.
You have 2 wires running from the ignition to the starter relay.
You have one lead from the alternator to the starter relay
You have one lead from the relay to the starter
You have one lead from the battery to the relay.

Why do you need the fuse panel?

    Wipers
    Gauges
Headlights/Turn signals (that flasher is right helpful for turn signals)
    Radio
    heater/fan

On mine, the only gauge that takes power is the voltage and that is run off the ignition switch. Oil, temp, and speed all run without power. I don't have a radio. I don't use a heater in Florida.

The wiper motor and switch are both new.

The lights/turn signals, I replaced with a universal kit form NAPA that was close to the original but a bit simpler. It even has a built in Hazard light flasher.

It's not as cool as saying I have a painless wiring harness or whatever, but I know every wire in that beast now.
