    Hi
I have an M606A1 (CJ5M)with a 10 Gallon capacity, I need to fit a bigger tank like the M38A1, if I do will this fit without having to alter the filling spout and bodywork, I have the correct seats so the tank will fit underneath any ideas please.

    some help here http://www.debellajeepparts.com/m38specials.htm
The filler hole should not be too difficult, don't know how yours is but some have flat piece of metal bolted to the fuel filler neck housing. IIRC they are bolted on if so change out with on from the M38A1.hth

The M38A1 tank gets it's extra capacity from a "drop down" section that fits down through a big square hole in the floor. CJ5s, earlier ones at least, have a plate welded into this space. I believe somewheres in the mid-late 60's the hole/plate dissappeared :(. If you don't have it it should be easy enough to make one.

The fuel spout on the military tank is a larger diameter.

Theres also differences in how the fuel lines hook up as well, IIRC M38A1 lines connect to the top of the tank. If you have the civvy guage cluster the fuel guage sender will probably niot work for you.
