I was driving to work today and in the middle of shifting from second to third I heard a "clink" and my clutch pedal went to the floor and didn't come back up. It sounded like something fell on the ground behind me but I could me imagining that. I just got this thing running right last weekend and now this. What am I looking at here I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. (cost, etc)

Is the clutch still engaged? Not sure about cost could be anything from a linkage part to the clutch itself.

Your chain linkage probably broke. No big deal.

If my Chain Linkage Broke how do I fix it. And no the clutch isn't engaged. I can pull the pedal up but the clutch push rod sucks it right back down.

There's no chain on an intermediate. The '72 had a long cable and the 73-on has a bellcrank.

Likely the ball joint on the pushrod from the bellcrank to the clutch release arm wore out and the pushrod fell off. Very common failure. If you'd crawl under the Jeep and look while someone else moves the clutch pedal, it would be obvious.

I may be crazy but I thought there was a cable coming through the firewall. There is still a hole just to the left of the clutch but I'm not sure.

my 75 with a 304 has a rod coming from the back of the pedal down to the linkage on the frame (bellcrank) that goes across to the rod that pushes on the release fork at that end there is a spring that holds it all tight. If this spring comes off the rod that pushes on the release fork can fall down and the pedal will drop to the floor

Got under the Jeep today and the problem is simple it's just a matter of finding the parts. The Release Rod broke off and now I have no release rod jamnut or adjuster.
