I just found this site and many of the post have been very helpful! I have a question about the metal brackets that bolt between the frame and engine mounts. My 73 CJ came with a junk 304. I pulled it and now I have a 258 I want to install. I know I need to change the brackets so I bought a set on ebay from a 79 CJ-5. I thought they would be the same but they aren't. The bolt hole pattern to the frame doesn't match up. Are the brackets different from 73 to 79? Thanks!

yes because the frames are different
for your year, the existing LH (drivers)frame bracket is the same for both 258 and 304; you don't need to replace that one, only the pass side frame mount. Look for passenger V8 1972-1975 frame mount.
FYI, the rubber motor mounts are different, so you will ned those as well.

OK, but I'm confused. Why would I want to look for a V-8 mount? I already have one. Did you mean the six cylinder mount? Thanks
