My 74 is the original steel body that a PO did a vast amount of body work to. The good thing is that he used metal and welded / pop rivieted everything together. It actually looks really really nice. The bad: I am not sure what he used for metal. I think he used steel in some spots and tin in other spots. The big problem however is that there is a severe lack of body mounts. I am down to about 1/2 of what were orgianlly installed. I am completely missing the 2 front most mounts and all of the mounts that mount to the rear crossmember. I get alot of flex and odd noises because of the lack of mounts. I plan to fix it by welding in replacement panels. Also the front floors are poorly done, I am going to replace it with a complete front floor piece. Problem is I do not know where to start. Are there body blueprints or plans out there that show where all the body panels weld together? Or has someone done this before and can give me some basic begining points. This is going to be a work in progess for a long time. Thanks everybody!!

Drawings of the frame and measurements between the body mounts are out there ... I don't have them, but somebody that does might post them if you post "74 CJ-5 Frame Dimensions Needed" or something like that. Also, some photos of the underside of a well-preserved body would be helpful.

<edit> The frame drawings used to be posted on www.neow.org but I have not been there for a while.

Body mount measurements are available in the Jeep Bible series, well worth the investment
