Steering column boot at firewall

    Was there some sort of rubber boot or grommet that went around the steering column and against the inner firewall to keep out the elements? If so, who sells it? Thanks much, Pete.

    Yep. This is usually one of the best places to try first. Calling them on the phone usually works best, rather than online.

    was there a bezel or ring that holds this part in place......

    MTS sells new ones.
    This is where I got mine. Cheap and fast. Had to call though.
    Really good guy on the phone and was ordered and done in five minutes.

    Seriously?

    I would have thought there would be one for it as the clutch rod boot right next to it has a hold down ring.

    Now that I look at the parts catalog, I see that it is just screws with washers

    Nope. Just been there recently. Three screws. Parts book shows it too.

    The clutch boot is paper-thin compared to the steering column boot. It needs a ring.

    just ordered one through southwest jeep via MTS.
    so ok,,, three screws and a couple washers for the hold down
