    I know, I know!

    :uwop:

I've been in the shop trying to replace a clutch over the last several days. If it's not one thing it's another!
Took the flywheel and had it resurfaced, bought a brand new clutch kit and installed the new pilot bearing. The old one looked good on inspection in the flywheel but after I took it off and got a closer look I found it to be egg shaped and loose on the mainshaft!
While installing the new clutch... I used the original bolts... two sheared off in the flywheel:oops: Extracted them easily though and will be replacing all six this evening.
Does anyone know what torque setting they should be at? My book doesn't say.

Also another problem cropped up when putting the flywheel back on.

Three of the four smaller nuts tightened down nicely, but one of them started, but won't fully tighten... stripped yes , loose no. The problem I see is that there doesn't seem to be a way to replace the bolt without removing the entire crankshaft and doing a lower engine rebuild. I do not want to do this! :(

Lastly, the new front bearing from my fresh tranny rebuild seems to have gone bad as well. Just rebuilt it 150 miles ago!
So I'll be re- rebuilding the tranny when the clutch thing is done.

    Any suggestions?:hurrican:

Can you get a "tappet" wrench back behind the crank? It's a thinner than normal wrench, and you should be able to tighten that nut up with it and replace it at a later time.

How'd the input bearing go bad so fast???

    Thad,
I can get a tappet wrench on it but it still won't completly tighten!

Regarding the bearing... I don't really know why it went bad so fast, but I'm afraid there may be a slight bend in the main shaft, can't tell for sure but I see a slight wobble to it when I turn it, so mebbe there was an un detected bent mainshaft initially. It did hang up bad when I took it out the first time. had all the tranny and T-case weight supported by the mainshaft, tried to take it out without a tranny jack.... wrong thing to do!

I have a new one on order along with new front bearing, seals and small parts kit for the T90
