My CJ5 has an intermittant rubbing/ grinding noise from somewhere in the rear somewhere. It is more of a rubbing sound. Where should I start looking? Rear brakes? Change rear axle fluid? D44 centered, 10" drums

    Josh,
My rear tires rub on the inside of the fenders when I'm offroading sometimes. Look inside the rear wheelwells for a shiny arc where the paint is rubbed off.

    Hope it helps...Gman

I've recently heard the same thing on the drivers side rear on mine and just figured it was the brake shoes rubbing on the drum? The wheel doesn't wobble so I'm not concerned.

I would say check the brakes and also the axle bearings first.
