I have a fresh 225 motor that I was saving for my Willys but now I want to drop it into the CJ-6 I just picked up (see Introductions). I have a T-15 /D20 combo sitting in the garage. Has anyone used this combo or know what is needed (adapters, clutch plate, etc.) to make this possible? I would like to use this combination because I have them and the CJ-6 came without motor, trans , and T-case. I hope this is in the right section. Perhaps it should be in the intermediate section.

If the cj6 still has its original offset rear end you're gonna need to fix that either buy using a dana 18 or swap rear axles.

what mcruff sad, but i'm running that combination.... it's been a while but turning down the bearing retainer on the input and bnding the shifter was all i remember having to do other than sourcing a non-71 bellhousing. the clutch disc and pressure plate should work (i didn't change them out at the time) and it shouldn't require an adapter to bolt onto the BOP belhousing. i don't have the jeep anywhere near me right now, so i can't go look at it to let you know things about it, but it can be done. without drilling holes in the frame for the cross-member to boot!

'xcuse me... not running a t15-d20, i've got the t15-d18 combo

Is there a bell that will fit the V6 and bolt to the short-stickout T-15? The T-15 was the standard transmission used with the 350 Buick in Wagoneers and truck, but that used a long bell and input shaft AFAIK.

The T-15 was only used with the 304 in the CJ...

I plan on running a centered 44 rear and a D30 up front with 4.27s (have these already). The axles, t-15 & d20 are from a 304 jeep. I have a '71 bellhousing for the v6. Rough measurements seem to say the trans bolt pattern and bell pattern are the same. These parts are buried in my garage right now - I need to get them up on the bench for a closer look and better measurements.
Machine work to fit the bearing retainer as well as pilot bushing modification seem to be the hang ups so far. The spline count and input shaft diameters are the same for a T-14 and T-15. The length of this T-15 input shaft is around 8 3/4" (case to tip).

if memory serves me right, the 71 bellhousing is going to be a little to deep for the t15. i wish i could tell you wherei got mine from, but it was something the guy i bought the transmision from tracked down for me... he said the '71 would fit and it didn't so he tracked one down that did work and gave it to me. i never saw that one coming.

the pilot bushing sould fit...i think i had to order it from novak just to be sure, but they are already made for the application. #6914t seems to be the one

You are right GTE. I checked out a t-14 I have hooked up to a '71 bell. That b/h will be to deep. The input shaft of the t-14 is around 9 1/2". I have a 225 bell housing with adapter (pre '71) that I need to dig / check out.

You might try the pre-71 T14-225 bell. I believe it uses a plate adapter and a shorter bell than the '71. Don't know if the bell without the plate will bolt up to the T-15; kinda doubt it, but maybe.
