So I will begin working on my jeep in 2 weeks and I am triing to decide what to do with the suspension. The old leaves are twisted so heres my options:
-SUA with a 2.5 to 3 inch lift (I know this will be the easiest)

-SOA on YJ springs. A friend of mine has stock (flat) YJ springs that he will give me for a 30 rack of bud.R)

Heres my quesion. With the spring over what steering issues am I going to face. Could I get away with just a drop pitman arm on the ross steering? Is there any way I could do a high steer on the d27? I am only going to be running 33s or 34s.
My steering is tight right now and I would prefer not to change it.

    Warning: Personal opinion ahead!!!!

If you're keeping the Ross steering, I don't know of ANY safe way of dropping the "pitman arm". (There isn't a pitman arm, in the technical sense, like you see on Saginaw steering)

Also, I have only heard of one way of possibly creating a high steer set-up on a D27. The D27's (or was it 25's?) from some Willys wagons and trucks have the steering arm bolted to the kingpin cap on the bottom of the passenger side knuckle. If you can find one of those, you can put it on the top of the knuckle on your 27 for a highsteer arm.

If'n I were you, I'd just go with the regular old 2.5 - 3" lift and keep things simple. With the SOA, you're going to need driveshafts, brake hoses, steering mods, etc. If you only want to run 33's or 34's a 2.5" lift will give you plenty of clearance.

Most of the ones I have driven with SOA suspension drive like crap on the road. I would go with the 2.5" lift springs if your only going to run 33's. It may SEEM cheaper to get the Wrangler springs for a few beers. In the long run though there is a pretty good bit of fab work that will have to be done as flattie mentioned. It is not really worth the time if your only going to run 33's. Especially if you will be driving it on the road much. I would do the SOA if I was going to run bigger tires, but I would also be changing the axles. Just my opinion, most of my junk is only for offroad use and has no business on a paved road.

There is no way to drop a ross setup.
