    Is there any fuel gauge available that will work with the stock sending unit? I'm pretty sure that my stock fuel gauge bit the dust so I would like to upgrade if possible.

    My 70 has an aftermarket hooter. Works, too! I'll go see what it is. Wait here.

    Ah! It seems to be the well known "fuel" brand. Want a pic?

    Yes there are, you have to match your sending unit resistance to the gage.

    I have an Autometer, cost about $40. They have a variety to select from... IIRC you want one to match the stock CJ sending unit, 73 ohms at E, 10 ohms at F... don't trust my memory though... :shock:

    EDIT: From Monsterslayer:
    73 ohms Empty
    * 23 ohms at 1/2 tank
    * 10 ohms Full

    http://www.monsterslayer.com/jeep/Gauges.htm

    This is for the mid '70/up rear tank set up. Get an Autometer unit that matches these ohms.

    If you look at Summit Racing, and search for "fuel level gauges", then select "analog gauges" and the "products" tab, you'll find a list of "Sender Ohm Range". Match the ohms range of your stock sender with one of these, then go to the manufacturer's gauges to find a matching gauge.

    I couldn't figure out the stock stuff so I got a new sending unit and a new gauge at NAPA. Not much $ and works good.

    I added a fuel sender and gauge (NAPA) for $20. I was able to replace the original sender with the "universal" one without too much trouble -
