Hey guys i was wondering what kind luck youve had with the 4 bbl intake manifolds offenhauser, i think, and carbs. i was thinking about putting on a 460 cfm holley truck avenger. did you guys loose alot of low end torque. what about horsepower? gas mileage? what about drivability offroad? what cfm do you recomend with the 225? are they hard to get running right? how does it go in 4wd and on inclines and hopping around and all?

the 470 Truck Avenger is supposed to be plug and play. the only thing you have to modify is the jet size per 2000 feet of altitude. its Really great on angles (what it's designed for). i have one with an offy (not quite installed yet...still grinding on it), but the front 2 barrels are only like 117.5 cfm per barrel which is great for torque. mine should be up and running soon, if you havent bought your by then, i will give stats on torque and hp. also, there is an older 4bbl from holley called a economaster. they are hard to come by (except on ebay). they are like 450 cfm spread bore (small spread bore). they are outstanding for torque from what i have heard. the edlebrock 500 is descent too, but alittle big.
but, the edlebrock has a spring kit for the needle and seat to make it a 4x4 carb for $14.95 in PAW, so it should be able to take descent angles.
i have seen an edlebrock 500 on a 225 and it did well.
i hope this 470 does really well (you can opt for the best offer from ebay and snag em for about $315 bux). or pick up this economaster if you want thats sitting in my house.

i think im gunna go with the truck avenger, do the bores match up on the carb and the maifold? or do you need an adapter. i saw the wiailand manifold and i was thinking that since its a single plain design it would have a little lower torque then the dual dual plain of the off. there both a square bore right? how much modification do you need to put that puppy on?

ok, i have an offenhauser dual port, not single plane.
its actually 2 single plane intakes on top of each other and it designed specifically for torque. the ports are designed for a holley 4150/4160 carb so its a bolt on and lines right up.
check it out on the web and do some reading on it. they sell it in PAW or summit plus a few other places.

check out the write up. not too bad.

If your after more power in the higher RPM range, you want single plane. If you want more in the lower range, its dual. I have a Kenne Bell Number 1 single plane that is a bit of both, but thinking of trying a dual Offy as I want the power band lower yet.

    PM me if your interested.

BTW - I have Holley 390's and a TA 470 on my riggs. Have not used the 470 off road yet, but I know it needs to be jetted down from the stock 57s.
