Today I got a fiberglass body, fenders and 1 steel hood 1 fiberglass hood all in great shape for a price I couldn't pass up. Now my question the fenders are the long ones so they don't fit but the body seems to fit fine. The body has the holes to mount the pedels on the firewall. the brake seems easy enough but how do i do the clutch and where do i get the parts (pedals linkage ect.) or should I just patch the holes and go with original. Also do I have to buy the body mounting kit of can I fab my own. I'm not trying to save money it seems like I could buy the ss bolts and make plates that cover better than fender washers. I have high density plastics and rubbers here. I just need to know the spacer height with no lift.

Would you like to trade those two for my two + two hoods one fiberglass and one steel all in exellent cond. You need parts to start a new project and this will give you a good start.

I have 4 seats all original but i would not call any of them good by my standards. I'm not in dire need of fenders yet that will be a few years. motor coming next week. still have steering, wiring, finish brakes (have 4 wheel disc on no m/c or lines), exhast, then maybe fenders and paint tell me what shape seats your looking for. Sounds like your pile of parts is the size of mine.

For fiberglass, I like the rubber "salami" body mount sold by 4WDH. It's about 2 ft long, you cut it to length. It's maybe 3" dia, and softer than most mounts.
It is difficult to cut straight or uniformly. Band saw may work best, or a red-hot fine wire. Sawsall or hacksaw cuts are very difficult to get uniform.

I used 2"x2" x 1/8 steel plates on top of the glass when mounting (bolt head side) to spread the load. I tightened the bolts just until I got some compression of the rubber, on about 2" pieces.

IIRC, "no lift" mounts would be 1/2" thick.

Jeep used to use old tire carcasses for body insulators. Use a hacksaw or band saw to cut them up, and a hole saw to punch the center hole. Not pretty, but cheap. One advantage - you can cut them maximally large, which would help with distributing the load over your 'glass body, plus they'll be soft like the original rubber donuts.

The original rubber donuts are 7/16" or 1/2" thick IIRC.

Can I cut this salami thing on my wood compound miter saw. Also I'm thinking about cutting 4" sq. plates out of 1/8' steel to sandwich the fiberglass tub on all mounts. I'm just trying to get all the fab work done before taking the tub off for patching everything then painting. there are a lot of holes drilled that i'll fix once i know which holes i need for mounting

Compound miter saw... I didn't have one of those back when I made my mounts. If you can clamp the rubber in place without deforming it, and cut slow without deforming it... then it just might work.
4" squares will certainly spread the load. You could even use aluminum if you have easier access to it.

I have 4" Al disks thanks to 48cj2a I need to install. Keep thinking I'll get a roll of salami and replace the Al body mounts that are on it now.

I have 1/4 : aluminum I can cut 4' plates out of I just thought it wouldn't be as strong as 1/8" steel plate (I also have 1/8" s/s plate just a b***h to cut). I would like to use allen key countersunk s/s bolts. since i don't have any experience with the load facters involved maybe in over building.

Sure 1/4" aluminum should be fine to distribute the load. I'd still use a steel washer on top of that (paint both first or use some anti-corrosive between the steel and aluminum, or use stainless washers).

Keep in mind you won't be cranking these bolts down tight, only far enough to somewhat deform the rubber mount, so it's in compression but not fully compressed. I recommend using blue loctite or similar on the nuts to be sure they don't back off from vibration (I think I used silicone sealant, didn't have any loctite ;) ) since there's no real torque load on the nuts.

The tub is just sitting on frame. I wanted to know mounting procedure so i could figure out mounting holes and plate size and material needed. after i fab all the parts i need to take tub off and fix all the rough spots p-15 underside then prep tub and paint it but i'll post pics as i proceed.
