Hello, I need to order some books and or manuels on fixing and restoring my 1966 CJ-5. As I have seen quite a few when looking around, I'd like to know which ones are worth while rather than taking a stab in the dark.
    Thank You,

    Rob

    Part list.

I like the fall 1967 book best of all. Part books after that don't seem to have as many pictures. Also this is the last book that I have seen that allows one to cross reference from part number to part.

Part books are great for seeing how things go together as well as seeing what parts will interchange.

Also, and I use this a lot, the part manual will describe the bolt / stud length, and thread sizes.

This is a big help, especially since I work with Jeeps that someone else took apart and for some reason either lost interest or the situation changed and they cannot put them back together. Most times a lot of the common hardware has been either lost or not identifiied.

You can find these manuals on ebay.

I started working on a Microsoft Access database that would allow one to cross back and forth between part number and part and a diagram, but there is so much 'dog' work in entering data that I put it on hold.

Maybe when the weather gets cold again...

The #1 book to have is definately the factory service manual (FSM)

They tend to get well used :).

As mentioned a parts manual is a big help as well.

I'd also recommened some on-line resources, specifically Rick Stiver's rebuild guides for the T90 & D18

A number of web pages also have good tech sections written by people who have been where you're about to go, some good examples are the
CJ3A, CJ3B pages and my particular favorite-

Rumour has it there is ls also a CJ5 web site out there somewheres but I've never been able to find a link to it

    Have fun,

    H.
