Is any one using these Hooker turn out mufflers? Reviews? They have the look I am going for, but wondering on their volume.

There shiney so you may want to talk to Joel (Vanguard).:D
Seriously they look good but there probably glass packs and gonna be loud. My Thrush mufflers are loud enough, at least for me they are.

When Shaggy was on the road in the 70's and 80's, it had 18" long Cherry Bomb glasspacks with side turnouts. It wasn't too loud for me, but they were 3 1/2" in diameter, which might make a difference in sound level.

They will be loud. Go with some Thrush Turbos from Pep boys,2" diameter outlet, about $17 each. that and a pair of 90-degree turnouts for another 6 bux each... should be not-too-loud, not-too-quiet... just right :D

EDIT: the 2" diameter outlet maintains enough back pressure to help the engine, and it maintains enough pressure to keep running when your exhaust pipes are submerged (the big diameters will flood and choke the engine)

I had some "Cyclone purple Hornies" on a Mustang years ago. They looked like that except s'posed to turnedown underneath. I angled mine out underneath the doors. They were loud and I traded them for a set of Thrush side pipes when they came out, they were louder. Now I don't know what this has to do with what Joe is lookin at. I guess I just wanted to be able to type "purple hornie" I appologize and if you want me I'm headed to the corner to talk to Dennis about more irrelevant stuff:D

Checked out the price and they are $200.00. I am assuming by the add that they are sold as a set for that price. Our local Advance Auto looked it up and they are not in stock yet, seems they might be a new product. I haven't seen them before. I think I will be buying them 'cause it has the look I want. I'll keep you posted.
Found them at Summit for $188.00, they are sold in pairs. I'm pulling the trigger now!:)

Shouldn't be a problem I'm not putting a top on the Jeep, and I'll try to keep it out of deep water.:)

BTW, speaking of sound... I have a short video of running my rig through some pretty deep mud ruts... you can hear the sound of the exhaust I described above, just below the sound of the wet/squealing power steering belt  :D
