Just got the "new' Jeep home late yesterdayafternoon, and after getting her running, I took a drive around the yard. Brakes were non working, so when I checked the fluid, I found a dual circuit master cylinder. I thought the early 5s had a single circuit, so this was a bonus. Did the "late" early type CJ5s ever come with a dual circuit cylinder? This one is rectangular, with a center bolt holding the cover on. As unmodified as this Jeep is, I would be surprised that this had been added on...

Also, the T case is busted and the transmission is somewhat wonky. Can I drop in my T90 and dual lever SD 18 without too much trouble?

BTW, that V6 is lots stronger than an L134!!! :)

Lots of discussion in this forum and mentioned in a couple brake conversion articles.

Starting in 1968 the government mandated dual chamber MCs. So it's stock.

Thanks, I knew the gov did that sometime around then, but wasn't sure if and when the CJ was included. One less thing I need to change...

To use a T-90 with a V6, you need the long input shaft and a GM plate adapter. They are pretty cheap on the used market, and not too hard to find. The T-90 would be ok, better ratios than the T-14 but no synchro in 1st.
