Here I thought I had a 225 odd fire. I went by the cast numbers in the tech section. the block number above the bell housing is 1254083. Best I can tell it is a 77 231 odd fire. It has the odd fire HEI set up. The head casting is 1249175 with a little 4 at the end. from what I could find they have the stamped rockers not the cast numbers on them. The numbers seem to come back to a 75 or 76 odd fire heads. Does this seem right to you guys. Is it a decent set up? Or is the 225 the way to go. Thanks for your help.

'75 saw the switch to the stamped rockers. That's normal. I'd stick with your engine.

I don't see any reason not to keep the engine.

Hey it did solve my question about the valve cover gaskets . They should be for a 77 231. Any one know the horse power for these engines?
