When I was a kid, I had a 2A with 7.50 x 16 B.F. Goodrich non directional tires. I thought it was the best. Then I helped a friend rebuild the engine on a 55 CJ5, and he bought a set of 7.50 x 16 with Firestone Super All Traction directional tread. He ate my lunch every time we went out!! Are there recappers in the Philadelphia area, or dealers who handle recaps who would still get 7.50 x 16 super all traction pattern that I could acquire a set from? After all, 50mph is about it!!

these are retreads though right? they are nice looking tires, but what about durability? my brother wants some newer tires for his ford f250, and i am thinking about sending him to this web site.
i just dont want to endanger him with the classic "retreads" that come apart.
tell me what you guys think...

Yes, they're retreads. The article is pretty clear on that. Thinking the High-Tec website is too.

Retreads for smaller tires have come along way.
I looked into Hi Tec for a set of low priced off road tires, they seem to have their act together.

Sorry for the use of the "recap" expression. Obviously by the responses I was referring to retreads. I went to the high-tec website and they do not picture the tread pattern I am looking for so I e-mailed them with the question. I will let you know the response. Firestone doesn't offer the super all traction pattern in the small truck tires anymore. Power King makes a traction tire that looks like the same pattern, but I have read a few horror stories of these tires coming apart, wobbling, generally not high quality. Although the price is very good for a new tire. I am also told that these are being discontinued in the 7.50 x 16 size. Both my friend with the 55 CJ5 and I with the 46 2A ran retreads and neither of us ever had one problem. I had one tire, as I recall, that required a lot of weight in order to get it balanced. But at 40 - 50 mph max?? When I first bought my set with the BFG mud pattern he gave me more crap about the retreads. But then I was eating his lunch at every mud hole, as he had Firestone Town and Country's on his Jeep. But then he got the Super All Traction retreads, and my days as king were over! OH, this was all in the early 1970's, so there weren't the wide range of off road tires available that there are today. Thanks for all of the responses. R.
