new coil q

    Got a new Echlin 12v coil for the 66 Tuxedo Park v6 today. Clearly printed on said coil is something to the effect of NO EXTERNAL RESISTOR REQUIRED. My question is with the " required" part of this. Can I safely continue to use the in line resistor on the firewall or MUST i delete it from the system?

    You will have to bypass or eliminate the external ballast resistor, or you will have a very weak spark. A coil marked as yours has an internal resistor that eliminates the need for the one on the firewall.

    I'd take it back and get one for use with a resistor. Look around for an independent FLAPS that stocks Standard; they should be able to provide the right style coil.
