Help

I am starting to break down my 1966 CJ-5a mark IV tuxido park edition, Any way, I got to the steering column and cant figure out how to remove it. does any body know? the curent engine in it is a dauntles V6, and i plan to rebuild that also. but does anyone know if it is posible to find the dauntles V6 stiker that sticks to the side of the engine? thanx for the help.

 

Column doesn't come off, if I'm right. My manual sez it has to come out by going down through the floor, and that's how I did my '56.

 

Just to remove the tub, you don't have to take the collumn out, just the steering wheel. If you want to anyway the easiest would be to disconnect the drag link from the box, unbolt the three mounting bolts(thru the frame), note the location of any shims, disconnect the horn wire(goes thru bottom of box to horn), remove floor plate(I think I had one, I did remove my tub first though), collumn yoke, and lift out. Hah, had to do some serious damage to my '71 tonight from doing the same thing.

Remove steering wheel;
Remove drag link from steering box;
Unbolt the column from the dash;
Remove the 3 steering box-to-frame bolts;
Unbolt the dang DASH to allow wiggle-room;
Curse as you eff up a brake line or 2 along the frame;
Unbolt the exhaust from the driver's side manifold;
Wrestle the entire Ross box & column down thru the Jeep;
Crack open a
