    Hi everyone!,

Has anyone tried the reproduction 16" wheels from Omix or MD Juan or the other aftermarket suppliers that are supposed to look like the original jeep wheels? Hows, their quality and thickness compare to the originals? I am curious about picking up a set of original looking wheels for our CJ-2A to use on trailrides, because I don't want to risk wrecking any originals on the rocks.

    Thanks, Daniel

I've got one that I got from Walck's. My spare for the wagon is mounted on it so it hasn't seen the road but it looked fine to me when I got it, and I wouldn't be afraid to put it on the road. I didn't ask where he got it but I know it was a repro.

I bought some for the truck but had to send two back that had some pitting seems they may have sat around the warehouse before anyone primed them. If you want them perfect you will need to grind down some of the welds. Also, check for trueness as they can become damaged through shipping. I haven’t seen the wheel in action yet but I would think they should hold up.

By the end of the week I should have a set painted and mounted let me know if you want me to take a pic.

That would be great if you get a chance to post a picture, the only shots I've seen of them are little thumb size photos in some of the catalogs. Do they appear any thicker or thinner than the originals? I am kind of hoping they are as thick as the originals or thicker. Thanks again,

Jungle Jim's down in Yuma, AZ sells them already powder coated with colors close to the original. There are some decent pics on the web at http://www.willysjeepparts.com/Tires.htm, they also sell just the rims. I am thinking about getting a set, but have not had chance to see them first hand yet.

Daniel, here are a few pics of a 16” pickup rim with a 7.00 tire mounted on it. Although I didn’t have a non-mounted original rim handy to weigh on a scale they appear to be the same thickness.

If it was me and I was only going to use them for trail riding I would try and find a used set that’s pitted for half the price. But that’s just me along with not knowing your situation.

Rim color: 1995 Ford Medium Willow Metallic which is a match for Hampshire Green Metallic the only color Willys offered for a 52 pickup.

    Thanks Chuck,

I like the color, by the way! Now I just have to find the cheapest place to find a set to pick up.

Does anyone know the width of these off hand, I thought I remember hearing that they are about 5" or 5.5" wide? Also, what backspacing are these made with? I may modify them a little, but I would like to what dimensions they are. Thanks again!

Daniel, where are you located? Somone on the board may have an original set for cheap.

Place a wanted ad here and on Willystech, that should do it. Make sure the valve stem holes aren't enlarged and make sure there isn't heavy pitting. You are a little far away for the few guys that have extra here.

    Hello folks.

Does anybody have anything new to report with regard to the reproduction wheels?

Are they all manufactured by the same company?

I'm thinking that I might be ahead of the game to buy new; I've purchased too many with severe rust that is, of course, discovered after tire removal and tire disposal. It's getting really spendy.
