I need pictures of what the handwiper setup is supposed to look like in a '55. I am finding all different styles, shapes, makes, models, conditions, etc. My buddy at Willys Works in Tucson says he can never remember seeing one on/removing one from a CJ5 in all his years. What to do? CJ

CeeJay, I've got the one that came off of mine. Wanting to clean it and powdercoat it. Haven't gotten that far, so still off the Jeep.

Let me know, and I'll bring it with me one day and can swing by your place after work.

OH, and do you want me to bring the compression tester?

The picture would be great. That way, I can also compare it to Old Bill's original setup. Thad, I would love all that you mentioned. Call me when u get a free chance. Oh, I agree that there are supposed to be 11 links in the tailgate chain, plus the connecting link and the hook. Just poopy that the length doesn't make the tailgate flat. Wonder why? CJ

Someone here mentioned recently that the early '5's had a vacuum wiper on the left and a hand wiper on the right as the stock configuration? I was tickled to see that my new venting windshield is setup that way. I need to replace the hand wiper though, or at least rebuild it, but I believe I've seen those listed at several vendors.

I take some photos of mine for ya Cee Jay, but I've already toted that heavy s.o.b. up the ladder into my garage attic.

Hmmmmmmmm..... are you talking about the wiper, the windshield frame, or yourself? LOL! If you don't need one you have, i would be glad to adopt it. CJ P.S. - my name is actually CJ, so you dont really need to spell it out. Thanks for your help.

Yeah....it does. Some have debated that the notch was supposed to go up to allow for the top. Some say, including me, that it is should be down to clear wipers and plus, that the books show it facing down. Love these debates. It is these little nuances that make it all so fun.:flag: :)
