just curious since i mostly hear about mig welding and body work. i have used mig for this as well. but used brazing in the distant past. since mig welding is so high heat, easily blows through, still warps the metal, and is a hard grind. seems that properly done lap joint brazing is plenty strong enough and less work. except for the fact that butt joint brazing is weak and a no, no.

I personally love brazing because that is how I learned. MIG is actually better due to a more controlled "zone" heat that goes away fast. A torch sends heat all over the panel --risking warpage. I do hate the MIG grinding part though cuz its tough as nails. If you got the equipment, try brazing in short bursts like mig --quench --repeat. Have a friend (or kid) do the sponge part. Remember, heat rises, keep the panel quenched.

If you are blasting through on MIG , the heat is too high or patch gage sheet is too thin

I use brazing to smooth seams or fill small holes - I am going to try leading as well as a buddy had real good luck with it.

I flux core... why? because it is a rule that as soon as I start to braze I run out of Oxygen R) I would mig weld but I bet I would run out of gas then.

Used to braze cause thats what I was taught. Mig works better but can still get warpage. Heat control paste can help though.
