I was running through the woods the other day in my old beater and had to back up after running over some small trees. Wouldn't you know, I pushed a stick through the rear of my radiator and busted the metal grille in about a thumb sized area. It didn't bust anything else, just the metal grille.

Can this be fixed? If I'm not worried about originality (and I'm not...), what is the cheapest and simplest was to replace this radiator. I can fabricate if necessary.

    Thank ya'll.

depending how bad the leak is you can solder it up and run it as is, or have it re-cored usually ~75-80ish

Yep many times it's just a few tubes. They can be cut, pinched and soldered shut.

If you're thinking about trying to fix it yourself, IMO don't try to solder it unless you have an air-acetylene torch or better. You need a lot of heat in a small area, and a propane torch probably won't do it. If you remove the radiator yourself and take it to a shop, it shouldn't cost much for a patch-up job. Solder is the best fix - JB Weld and such is only for field repairs IMO.

i agree with what tim said. but from your post it sounds like you only damaged the fins/heatsink around the tubes and it's not leaking? a radiator shop should be able to fix that for you by patching in a section of fins.

but i wouldn't ask for a recore unless you really want one or just a "partial". a total recore will be $250 or more depending on the price of copper when you have it done and the size of the radiator..
