front axle dilema need input

    i have a mid 50's m38a1a the front axle marking has only the numbers 17038 on bottom right of housing and pat #on bottom left cananyone give me aclue on what front axle this is looks like adana 44 but i havent aclue thnx danjanent

    Sooooooo.... got a pic of the axle in question? Stock axle on an early A1 would be a D25, and I think later a D27, both with closed knuckles.

    If it's a 44, someone swapped it in. Give us a pic of the knuckles, the diff cover, etc. W4elcome aboard!! Give us pics of the rest of your rig as well!! :)
