I just scored a new (factory rebuilt) Motorcraft knockoff of the Holley/Weber 32/36 carb, and I intend to put it on the Flattie later this summer. My dilemma is this: It has a hot-air choke on it, and I want to change it over to either a manual or electric choke.

Is anyone familiar enough with these carbs to tell me if the Holley choke retrofit kits for the 2300/4150/4160 carbs will fit the 5200 series? :?

Steve, I can post a picture of the Motorcraft choke setup later, then you can compare it. If you could post a pic I'd be happy to add my opinion too.

The "Help" rack sells a manual choke conversion kit for carbs that use the round black choke covers with a bimetal spring inside. Not expensive, like $10, and most of the cost is in the cable. This kit will fit the Holley, Motorcraft, Carter and Rochester carbs, but the Holley manual choke conversion kit won't necessarily fit the Motorcraft. The Motorcraft carbs were made on contract for Ford by Holley (or so I've read), and the Motorcraft knock-off is likely the same as the Holley branded carb.

Here goes! This is a strange-looking animal, it seems to have both an electric heater AND a provision for hot-water heating of the choke stove. Gonna have to check out the HELP! section at the FLAPS some day and see if there is a kit to convert to an electric-only choke so I can get rid of that clunky hot-water gig. Thanks Tim!

    Here are some Motorcraft parts:

The choke cover is 2 3/16" in diameter. You can see how the end of the bimetal spring fits into the slot in the arm that moves the choke flap. I'd remove the cover on your carb and compare.

Re the electric choke, the Help kit is a manual, but Holley sells an electric choke conversion for their carbs. If the manual kit fits, the electric Holley kit should too.
