After seeing what happened to Brannon, I'll be installing an electric when I put it all back together. Probably not going to get an exact match but what have you all used? I have the stock v6 radiator. Include others too, I bet I'm not the only one considering the change.:v6:

Go with a ProForm for a 5.0 Mustang sold at Jegs.com...$129 comes with everything you need to mount and control it. It can be set up to go on and off with temp. and you can also manually control it for water crossings...

Jumping the gun in my honest opinion. The electric one is more apt to come apart than the stock one. Don't run gun shy just because of one little fluke. If you need an electric fan as an auxillary thats fine, but don't take your mechanical off just because of one fluke!!!!!!!!

2-speed 87 Buick Grand National fan fits amazingly well on the Jeep V6 Radiator core surface (closeness important on these). I paid $50 from the TB website. A little fabrication for mounting will be required. Here is one on there now: $45 + ship from new jersey

I would expect the electric fan failing to be waaaaay more likely than your stock steel fan exploding. Like, 1000 or 10,000 times more likely.

Anyway, it's a good safety lesson... stay out of the plane of rotation of the fan or belts - or any rotating equipment - unless you must be there.

In all honesty I don't expect the stock fan to explode. Perhaps a little theatrical on my part. I've been wanting to change to an electric anyway because the stock fan is constant speed w/o a clutch. I like the thermostatic controls of an electric and the added HP (I know its not much) is a plus too. It also gives me another reason to upgrade the alternator (ulterior motive). CFO needs accounting for everything I do to it. Makes for good discussion though. Its the flukes that get someone hurt. If it happened all the time it would be second nature to watch out for it.:v6:

I'd be putting a new fan blade on if SSDutch's were original, but not going electric. As it happens it has some kind of aftermarket (blue) steel fan.

Mike, if it's a steel flex fan, I would replace it. Those are known for losing blades when hitting deep water. Plus, they sound like a tornado...

An electric fan will free up HP indeed. I put one on my 4cylinder TJ.

However I'm not sure that my V6 needs it in the least. Plenty of power, I've cringed before as I've gotten a little heavy on the skinny pedal going into second and barked the 33's...

BTW, I stuck my hand in the fan this weekend while running. Don't do that. Like Bill Engvall said "It's like a machine or sumthin, you cain't stop it!"...

I mounted my electric fan in front of the rad. got tired of the fan and the radiator fighting (rad looses everytime).
