Purchasing an engine stand from HF Friday. They have 2 on sale, a 750# and a 1000# stand. Does anyone know the approx. weight of the Dauntless back to and including the flywheel?:v6:

No need for reply guys. Found it in another thread, 380# to 420#. May go for the 1000# stand anyway so I can use it for bigger engines in the future.:v6:

Go bigger, just in case you ever get an F-head. Then again a buddy had a 1000# stand and his Lhead bent it R)

Trivia: The L-Head is actually heavier than the Dauntless V-6 (by 60# iirc)

i would recommend getting a stand with an "I" base and 4 wheels as opposed to a stand with a "T" base and 3 wheels, regardless of the weight rating. The "I" base is much, much more stable.

I have 4 of those - 3 w/engines on them. They work fine.

Can anyone tell me how to go about mounting a 258 to the HF 1000 pound stand? I cant seem to get more than 2 mounting points to line up

I would seriously consider the HF 2000# stand. Remember, this is Harbor Freight rated "1000 pounds". You never regret buying the better one, but often the cheaper one! I would consider the 2000# stand to be sufficient for 750#, but I wouldn't put a diesel on it...
